CAHHF activity launch: “Study on Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis in Henan Province”
The 19th May 2009 saw the successful launch of the activity Epidemiology, Pathogen, Control and Prevention for Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis in Henan (EID35) at Xinyang, Henan Province. The launch was well attended, with over 50 participants from Henan provincial CDC and three pilot counties (Shihe, Pingqiao, and Luoshan).
Mr. Xu Bianli, Deputy Director of Henan CDC and manager of this activity, briefed participants on the project’s key components and defined responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of team building and monitoring and evaluation, and expressed the importance of multi-sectoral cooperation to ensure smooth project implementation.
Mr. Dong Shengli, Facility Manager of CAHHF, acknowledged the value of this activity and stressed that all participants needed to strengthen communication and coordination to ensure its success. Speaking on behalf of three pilot counties, Mr Li Diming, director of Xinyang Prefecture Health Bureau, made a commitment to the project’s activities.
After the opening speeches, experts from Henan CDC provided training on project management and implementation, basic knowledge of Human Granulocytic Anaplasmosis, its epidemiology and laboratory tests. During a plenary discussion, the experts also provided recommendations on potential technical and financial management problems that might occur during implementation.
Following the launch ceremony, members of the CAHHF team, Henan Provincial CDC and other participants visited Xinyang CDC, Xinyang central hospital, Shihe township hospital and Shuixianqiao village clinic.
