The Development of Protocols for Psychosis Treatment and Management and Mental Health Human Resources Building (HSS01) was successful launched in Beijing on 25th May, 2009.

Opening the ceremony, Ms. Kong Lingzhi, Deputy Director-General of Disease Control Bureau, MOH, stated that for many years China-Australia agencies had cooperated successfully on mental health issues and that she hoped the implementation agency would cherish the opportunity to complete the activity successfully.

Mr. Nie Jiangang, Deputy Director of Division of European, American and Oceania Affairs, MOH, hoped this activity would provide an opportunity to explore a new method of psychosis management through, and provide a model for others. AusAID’s Grant Morrison announced that it was very exciting for China to draw lessons from Australia’s community-based mental health service model, and he hoped China could play a role in leading mental health service reform in Asia Pacific. Mr. Yu Xin (Director of Mental Health Institute of Peking University) stated that mental health was a big challenge during this transition stage, and that the activity is very important for Mental Health in China.

Regarded as a project milestone, the launch meeting was well received by participants, including from MOH, Peking University, AusAID, and Asia-Australia Mental Health.
